The creative atmosphere is in every stone of the building, which is slowly and timidly sacrificing itself to decay. This was also recognised h by the b a n d D e p e c h e M o d e , who filmed their hit H e a v e n here. Built by the French architect Theodore Giraudim in 1853 in the Roman arch style, the former church stands in the historic Faubourg Marigny district near the famous French Quarter. Local performing artists from the fields of ballet, theatre and, of course, jazz performed here.
